Sproston - a pleasant place to retire...

Good day everyone,

Well only 9 days to go now until I become a "modeller of leisure" (Hooray!!)
I have been busy completing the internal detailing of some of Sproston's coaching stock, now just three left to do- these being the Bachmann Hawksworth autotrailer and two Stanier 57 ft "porthole"coaches, a corridor 2nd and brake 2nd.
This being a Hornby Hawksworth corridor brake 2nd.

I had run out of painted ho scale passengers to install in them, and needed to start on a second batch.

So I began looking on RMWEB for inspiration for a small detailing project - and found it in "PEN-Y-BRYN"
The attention to detail on this marvellous layout is staggering, and soon I discovered exactly what I was looking for...
This has resulted in the "scrap pile" that has suddenly appeared alongside the Station Garage at Sproston and which I hope looks reasonably authentic.

I have been trying to find some new viewpoints for the layout - this is understandably proving difficult due to its compact size, and the loft location, but I have found a few which I include here for variety.

I tell you what there ain't much to criticize there, lovely attention to detail and do you want to come and do my ballasting by any chance?

Hello Steve (good name...)

Thanks for your kind words,- I've never rated my ballasting as anymore than 'adequate', it was done the usual way - laid dry on thin cork (to give it a small ballast shoulder) using a paintbrush to coax it between the sleepers, and then fixed using watered down PVA glue applied (very) carefully with a drop of washing up liquid, using a small syringe. Finally when dry the rails were airbrushed using diluted HUMBROL enamel (track colour).

It helped my sanity that the layout was small!!

Regards,

Steve
