... and we're off and running
In what is for me record time only a week from my last post, I have finally started building the first baseboard for chard junction. I ended up with the following baseboards.
And decided to start with the only square one. My birthday present does an excellent job og cutting both the plywood and the XPS foam without too much dust. In fact, I was amazed at how little dust came from the XPS.
According to all the books the dogma is ‘measure twice, cut once’. I’m much more of a measure ‘three time, cut once, buy twice’ school of woodwork. I never seem to get cutting mitre joints right and always end on with parallel slants rather than opposed cuts as you should. It was a close call on this occasion as well. But here you can see all the bits that will go into the first board.
The foam is 20 cm shorter than the length of the board. But I think this is probably a good thing as it will give space for connecter blocks and wingnuts bolt or whatever I end up with using to connect boards. I have ordered DCC dowels to align them. So what to use to glue the XPS to foam?. I have tried a test with PVA wood glue. I see how it does tomorrow when fully dry.
