Cargowaggon Twin

The Fatadder

One of the key stock items for Wheal Imogen are the vans for bagged clay, for the 1980s this is well served with a mix of VAA/VBA/VDA and VGA along with a couple of long wheelbase Cargowaggons. Whereas for 1998 I am a little light, with just the VGA and Cargowaggons. Out of interest when did they start to appear with no Cargowaggon branding?

In order to mix things up a little I have added one of Jon Hall's kits for one of the 2 axle Cargowaggon pairs. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/117966-4mm-hfirrs3-cargowaggon-iwa-twin-van-kit/

Tonight I made a start on building it, for the most part I followed the instructions with a couple of areas where I deviated. The first change was with the W irons, I was struggling to fold back the raised lower fillet. Instead I broke it off, punched the rivets and then soldered back into position.

I was struggling to get the floor to stay level, so I moved the body spacers further towards the ends of the wagon and mounted them right above the w irons. I then superglued it into position, mostly because I couldn't find a bolt of the correct diameter!

It is now ready to start fitting the white metal details, before I start work on the other end. All in all its a fantastic kit and I really recommend it while they are still available.
