Strictly Come Steaming

I was at Ongar today, knowing the railway wasn't running but decided to have a quick look at the station. To my surprise 4141 steamed in about 2.30pm.

As the loco was running around I made a quick decision to drive out to the bridge at Blake Hall. There I found a BBC camera crew.

Soon after 4141 came steaming through with a lot of whistling and a rather unusual front.

The train did 3 runs at that location. There were also cameras on the platform and according to the crew several Go Pros on the loco. We were also treated to a few passes by a Spitfire from North Weald.

I then went to North Weald which had been renamed and the main crew were packing up.

In case you hadn't already guessed, it was for an episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The scenario is the dancers arrive at Jive Junction for some instruction, they board the train, the action shots at Blake Hall are edited in, then the dancers get off replica carriages inside the studio.

The train arrived soon after.

The previews will be on in about 2 weeks and this particular episode will be shows in late September.

Been down to Ongar today for a fantastic day out. 4141 still sported the Strictly Express emblem on the RHS much to my daughter's delight. North Weald was still masquerading as Jive Junction as well until we helped remove the nameboard before the 'Victorians' arrived!

Anyone looking for a good day out over the next couple of day, give some consideration to the EOR. It is a great day out,and getting closer to London yard by tantalising yard!

The Sun thinks it has an exclusive in making the connection with something else filmed at EOR.

I think its a somewhat tenuous link, but no doubt some Sun journalist had to watch the entire porno for "research" purposes, I think I am in the wrong job.

The Daily Mail picked up on it as well, using it as a means of bashing the BBC yet again. How dare they associate a wholesome family TV programme with making porn films.

That's rich, coming from them!

I have occasionally followed links to "news items" on that site and all down the L/H column is nothing more than virtually pornographic images of the latest "celebrity" happenings, couplings, beach wearings, whatever.

I like to see the female form as much as any red blooded bloke but the DM site looks like a porn king site to me!

As for the Sun, well - you don't buy it for "news" do you!?!

Cheers,

John E.
