I have been asked by a friend  who  has a friend   etc

is UK DCC the same as US DCC  simple yes of no required

Regards nigel

Depends.

At the track, yes its the same, one standard.  So decoders all work.

Elsewhere, depends a lot.

Some systems will come with "transformers" which will be 110v, 60hz.   UK (and EU) is 220-240v, 50hz.    Some systems come with "switched mode" power supplies which will, in most cases, cope with 80-240v input.

Wireless standards and wireless approvals are different.  So, some US systems operate on frequencies not approved in the UK, and their use would be illegal.   Some US systems operate on the frequencies used in the UK, but lack certification to say they are correct, so again illegal.   Unlikely anyone would spot their use, and I doubt there have been any prosecutions (but if you work in a few jobs you might run-away from the chance of prosecution under wireless and telegraphy acts just in case).

And, when it comes to support, you'd not be surprised to learn that UK dealers and agents are not very keen on helping out those who import from the US and then want local support.     If importing, don't forget to add on the VAT due (unless you approve of illegal tax evasion ).
