RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted December 12, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 12, 2017 Hi everyone, Further to some interesting posts on here, and some pictures found in print and online, can anyone advise me as to the differences between these locomotive types that would impact on modelling them? I am particularly curious in regards of the DJH BR class 02 becoming one of its industrial cousins. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Regards, Alex.
5050
This may help - https://www.flickr.com/photos/64619687@N02/albums/with/72157688290397962 Posted earlier today by D River on the Judith Edge thread. I'm currently in the middle of doing a very similar thing to you with a Craftsman kit.

Down_Under
There is nothing stopping you from taking the DJH kit, which is of the Diesel Hydraulic (DH) version and using it to represent a DH version in industrial service. However there are a few differences between the DH and Diesel Electric (DE) version, of which the DE version appears to be the more common type used in industry. The main difference between the DH and DE version are (other than transmission and Hp) : Length 22'6" vs 22'2.5" DH has a longer bonnet compared to the DE version Different body side grilles, grab handles between DH and DE DE have fuel tanks built along the length of the body side vs around the cab on the DH version. The Flickr link has some good brochures that show the differences. It is entirely possible to modify a DJH 02 to look like its DE cousin, a few on here have been quite successful in doing so.
