Zimo MX644d Directional lighting using F0

Been using ESU sound, but now on my second Zimo, a very pleasant alternative.

Also a bit of a learning curve.

Just fitted Mx 644d, with ZS37 4ASL V17.07 sound file.

My directional lights on Fo now only operate Red or white on cab end 1. Nothing on cab end 2.

Ive been looking at comments etc. Reaching the conclusion this cannot be changed by CV adjustment. Unless i alter the Bachmann wiring, which im not confident to tackle.

Is this the case. ?

Thanks

Do the lights work on another key ?   If not, then it suggests a wiring issue inside the loco.

If the lights are wired to any output wire/pin on a Zimo decoder, then they can be mapped to any function key of your choice, and be directional or not (again to choice, on any function key), all by CV programming.

Hi Loco ,

Could it be you are barking up the wrong tree ?

I would be inclined to check the bendable copper contacts of the LED lighting units  on the No2 end .

If the lighting was working before disassembly and also on DC , I would seek to check the above first .

If it is something to do with the chip , then ZIMO expert Pauliebanger on this site may well be able to help you.

Loco,

I'm inclined to agree with Albie's assessment above

Bachmann normal practice is for white markers at one end to be connected to red tails at the other, and vice versa.

The sound project to which you refer has been built with this in mind (F key 0 directional) and will correctly operate any connected (and working) LEDs.

The fact that the LEDS are working correctly at No 1 end means that the Function Outputs 'headlight forward' and 'headlight reverse' from the decoder to the loco main PCB are electrically connected and working correctly.

The only possible explanation is a physical problem with the model or the LEDS at No 2 end.

The LEDs at No 2 end could be 'blown', in which case they will never work again, but more likely (due to the physical nature of them) is that the internal contacts to the lighting PCB at that end are not mating fully.

I'm sure if you check this out, the lights will work correctly (that is, in line with the model's design).

Best regards,

Paul

Just opened it.

Thanks guys, you were spot on.

Those three little contacts were twisted, probably my haste in putting it back together after fitting the sound.

I should have known better..

All running and sounding great.  :sungum:

Cheers.
