Industrial sign writing

Recommended Posts

Help please.

If you search Google image for Ackton Hall #3 you find several photos of the locomotive in her final Featherstone years.

Can anyone help identify the font / style of lettering used?

Can anyone recommend someone who would produce a one off set of transfers at a reasonable cost?

Sorry, I havent worked out how to move the image across.

It looks like a hand-painted sign-writer job, as one would expect. If you look in the private owner wagon forums you will see that what we now regard as fonts were not standardized for this kind of use. Although the nearest commonly used font is probably Times New Roman, that is too slim and too regular for Ackton Hall.

If you can do the artwork in 100% black i can print in white for you at a very reasonable cost

if you cant do the art work i could find a font close and do them or if you have a full side on photo i could do a trace over the font and get it pretty much spot on

send me a pm

Ackton Hall No3 has been stripped and assessed for restoration at the Foxfield Railway. We are shortly launching appeals for help funding the overhaul which is likely to cost in the region of £110,000. There are various benefits for donators including footplate rides and driving experiences once the locomotive is returned to steam which we are aiming to have done in time to celebrate her centenary in 2020!

If anyone is interested in knowing more feel free to PM me or take a look at the locomotive's facebook page.
