Inmates might like to know what is in the latest issue [ number 99, goodness how time flies]:

Newsdesk - new and forthcoming trade offering

News Extra - two pages of pics of new stuff on show at DEMU Showcase. The Bachmann SR goods brake looks tasty ...

Feature on MLV luggage vans, prototype and model

Reviews of more stuff from Bachmann, much of it weathered. Will there soon be nothing left for modellers to do?

Our own Grahame Hedges reviews the Farish Desiro. Somebody else reviews other new Farish products.

Mick Bryan describes his replication of the GBRf 66 decorated by a child

Simon Bendall reviews the Heljan DP2, hinting strongly that aspects of it lack prototype fidelity

Alex Carpenter describes his model of 56042, the one used as a testbed for the 58 bogies

Graham Hedges returns to review the Dapol Mk 3 buffet. Someone else reviews the On Tracks phosphorus tank but cannot spell 'phosphorus'.

Simon Bendall upgrades the Bachmann VAA/VBA

The Elcot Road series reaches part 18, installing the third rail.

The following caught my eye: "The latest ready to assemble EMU kit from Bratchell Models is a Class 318 in original Strathclyde PTE orange and black. Numbered as 318252, it is priced at £129 with additional options being the provision of wheels, bearings and couplings (£32) and a building service (£36)." Pardon me for asking, but how can it be ready to assemble if wheels are extra?

Chris .

EDIT: Icouldn't spell 'phosphorus' either

Interesting Hattons advert on the back cover, the Heljan Beyer-Garratt this time and a much better effort than that weird YTS trainee photoshop job they had last month.

Just been looking to see if back issue of No 99 is still available, but its sold out. Mainly interested in the article about converting a Hornby 56 into 56 042 with the CP1 bogies. Wondering if anyone might have a copy they are willing to part with?

Think this is the one you're looking for.
