Are these pieces of old rail or just T sections

Walking over a bridge at the golf club I noticed these fence posts

I have walked past them loads of times

And never paid any notice to them

Are they just T sections or are they an old rail

This one is bent

 

All in all there are at least 3 if not 4 posts and may be more behind the brambles

That's standard GWR fencing made from old bridge rail as used on both broad and standard gauge rail in the 19th century. They were usually used like this as strainers to tension the wire. In between there would be either simple bridge rail posts or wooden posts.
