Car Pool to Exhibitions/Heritage Railways from London

Hi guys (and girls!)

Just putting it out there, I was wondering whether anybody would like to do a car pool to a good exhibition/heritage railway and/or event. Basically I have a Ford Galaxy and can take up to six more people with me from London/Essex to where ever. If we could get a group of six obviously it's going to be much cheaper per head - I'd need at least three others to make it affordable. 

I have tried this to a specific destination in the past but nobody wanted to join as it wasn't flexible enough (a lot of people were saying "if only you were going from xxxxx") Last time I offered it was £10 a head return from central Essex to Loughborough GCR - Rather cheap!

It opens up a lot of other places I haven't been yet which I could never usually afford on my own, that's my motivation. 

Available 22/02/15 and 08/03/15 - Both are Sundays (could even do both if people were interested.)

So, any ideas, any takers?

I'm interested but a word of caution. Never quote a specific amount for a trip, this could be construed as for 'Hire and reward' and could even invalidate your insurance. Its better to give an estimate of the expenses for a specific trip and ask for 'voluntary' contributions. I live in Basildon so I can easily make my own way to a pick up point in the general East London/Essex area in my own car as long as there is somewhere secure to leave it.

At the moment I have this on another rail forum and theyve suggested bluebell railway and severn valley railway and I've uploaded to blabla car an itinerary - this does show prices but it is set by blabla car and looking through the terms and conditions and my insurance it appears I'm not breaking any rules as long as I don't profit - but I can factor in fuel, mot, insurance, tax and wear and tear i.e. tires as long as it is reasonable.

 

For RMWeb members obviously there would be a discount anyway... especially if we got 6 seats filled.

It says on BlaBla Car 4 seats available when in actuality there are 6, just a restriction on BlaBla Car I can't get around!

There are some organisations, both public and private sector, who are running websites specifically designed to match prospective car sharing candidates. Maybe something for Andy Y to consider as an add on to RMWeb...
