Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update: June 2019 - Part Three

I asked the guys who are building the layout to photograph the progress of this - and for sometime it seemed like i was asking too much, but today, it seems like progress has been made, not just on the build itself, but the development of this for my RMspace.   Looking left to the right, picture number 1, 2, 3 and 4.   1 If you were travelling along on the soon to be completed bridge feature which runs across the layout, you would get a view similar to this before the shed wa

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update: June 2019 - Part Two

Having had some good news on the progress of Johnson Street IEMD, the guys have been hard at it, there was a but too much creative licence from them initially but it appears they are back on track now they know what was desired. Further pictures have come through today regarding the cosmetic updates as below.   Pictures top left to bottom right   1 The electric shed picture just has show covers over the inspection pits which will be lit up at both diesel/repair and electric s

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update: June 2019

June 2019 Update:   Ok, so a little while later and some good news which should see the layiout move forward with much more pace than has been previous. The layout builder now has an extra pair of hands to see this through as much from a technical aspect to the cosmetic side of things, which is really good news and on the back of this, the below images show the concrete hard standing for the electric shed starting to come together as well as the town scene space at one side of the layo

Its here at long last.... the Bachmann Class 90

At long last, a loco arrives which I can truly get excited about. The Bachmann Class 90 and from what I can see, is something which really raises the game for AC traction locos. I have, whilst waiting for this, concentrated on getting a reasonable clutch of DB diesel locos, and where necessary re-branding and renumbering these into the newer DB style   08s 624 (Hornby TTS), 60s (DBS60007 Spirit of Tom Kendell TTS and 60100 DB Sound -fitted ), 66s (Ex EWS 66002, DB Cargo 66s 0

Return of 90019...

so, where do we start this blog... railway junctions... i have recently applied for a job on the railways ... and i was thinking about not just having lived by a railway, but the junctions I have lived next to....Ouston Junction... the Leamside/Washington junction and Stafford South Junction. How did I manage to have lived next to three once great junctions? I just wish I'd taken more photographs of Ouston Junction which had been on my doorstep for a few years at its virtual ending and vividly r

Getting ready for the Bachmann Class 90

Ok, so, last night, I agreed the sale of one of my favourite locos, my almost perfect Class 90 019, in ultra up to date DB Cargo livery. I envisage I will have a Bachmann equivalent of this in the next two years or so, although it will be sound fitted, with dcc controllable pantograph, have fullt detail features, working cab lights and look the part operating within my IEMD set up, however, here and now, im parting company with my lovely 90. It does feel a bit sad as it's a very rare example  -

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update: January 2019

24th January 2019   I write this, having come back from a night shift and being a little sort of a loose end... the layout hasnt made any more progress as far as I am aware but the loco fleet for Johnson Street has, somewhat, had an unexpected boost. I have managed to acquire two new locos, for a fraction of the going rate, the Canadian Maple leaf style Schenker Class 67 (018) as well as a recently released model shop exclusive Bachmann YIWI-London DB Class 66 (136). This ties up nicely up to

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update: November 2018

Foreword   Having had one's knuckles wrapped for being a little naughty with the status thing. Fair enough RMweb, I was in the wrong, I shouldnt have done so, so in the manner I did it.   November 29th 2018   So, moving on, the model railway layout project is coming on, how do i know this, becuase Mike and the Mechanics have shown me the bridger girders that are going together to make up the raised bridge feature which forms part of the central scenic section of the layout. One half of the

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update

10th August 2018   With Johnson Street IEMD, (bits now happening to it) and Bachmann's 90 still some distance away from being complete, I have decided to press on with getting my loco collection up to date and slightly extended. I already had two EWS Class 90s which were out of date with their numbering, these are being updated, I will have them renumbered also, from 90017 (sat in store at Crewe) to 90028 (regularly working on 4M25) and also 90023 (also on store at Crewe) for 90039, which has

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update

14th June 2018   After what can only be decribed as a ''frustrating'' period of time to get the layout build into what anyone could call ''progress'' The layout build project didnt have a time frame on the project so I guess I only have myself to blame in that regard, it just seems like, at the moment, the Bachmann 90 is going to be available, before my layout build is completed.   I have been trying to distract myself from the above disappointment by developing my loco fleet somewhat, I hav

Johnson Street IEMD: Progress update

Following on from pictures of Shed Two and the inspection pits for this, my loco fleet has evolved somewhat   The latest arrivals to the Johnson Street IEMD fleet are:   08623 DB Cargo   66002 DB Ex EWS 90019 DB Cargo 90037 DB Ex EWS   The above three locos have been professionally re-branded by ''Cairnsroadworks'' into the more up to date DB branding, as seen on 90019, several class 60s, 90019 and 92015 and also the Ex EWS style as seen mainly on EWS Class 66s, 60065 and 90037.   I ha

Saturday 28th October 2017   Ok, so, today, I got to see my fledgling layout in its infancy. The overall track layout hasn't changed much since its original plan back in the spring, since then the layout has gradually come to the fruition, and now, with the discussions I have had with the project director today, that the layout track plan is now finalised and the other parts of the layout not shown. The main part of the layout is going to be electrified with the reverse head shunt to be electr
