Currently renumbering and weathering a few of the Hornby 87s in Virgin Livery. Thought I would share as I go along- Firstly not over impressed by the paint job on the white stripes - Quality control at Hornby?
Apart from the insulators the fire tanks are also too dirty so some of the weathering is stripped back, likewise along the cable run on the roof which was repainted from Hornby's orange to a more muted maroon, again before and after pics
With the airbrush coat of weathering its time to recover and sharpen up some of the detail. First up are the insulators on the roof - a quick before and after:
Today's efforts have seen the first application of weathering to the roof. Basic coating with some shadows and highlights and time to leave to dry before detail painting. The Virgin livery is a good basis for weathering and they were actually pretty grotty when studying reference pics.
