More Autorail Progress

In case you missed it here is a video I posted of my X73500 fitted with a DCC Sound Chip.

The sound chip works very well and gives the layout a lovely ambience. I really want to crack on and get the rest of the modules up to standard.

I have also finally completed the X3900 I have been making for the past two years. I painted the whiskers on the two ends as well as touch up the paint. I then used a coat of matt varnish to tone it down. This made it look a lot more than the pictures I have seen of it in operation. Finally I glazed it using Krystal Klear fluid.

Here are the results:

And finally a comparison:

One thing I love about modelling is getting packages full of supplies. I couldn't resist taking a snap of one of my recent purchases (sorry if it is self indulgent!)...

Isn't all modelling self indulgent?

I'm glad you included that photo. I wasn't aware 1:160 leaves were available, and I am now.

On close inspection the foliage looks like branches with leaves on. It is designed to wrap around armatures and be used as freestanding foliage in fields. I plan on making a small batch of trees using this method this weekend. I will write an update about it.

Wow for N the unit looks dam good, I did have a model in HO of a class X92200 in Normadie green and white, just because I had been on the real train and saw a model in a shop in Rouen about 20 years ago,,then was offered silly money for it two years ago, better interest than buying gold reserves lol, wish had kept it now!

Thanks for the kind words. The 3900 has its flaws but it will do for my purposes. I started it 2 years ago and I would have done it a lot better had I started it now. Still if I did that with every train I would never get anything done or gain any experience.

The French do love to collect interesting pieces of stock. They pay through the nose for it though...

The only model shops I went into when I visited Paris where Orfer Line 1, Transmondia and a few of the others around the Rue De Douai area. I think French N Gauge is far less developed than UK which is why the price is far higher, saying that though I know HO can be pretty expensive.
