It's grim up north (pt3)
Work continues on the extension board, I'd not been happy with a couple of bits but I think I've finally got the 'plan' right now. The mill complex has been growing, a couple of Bachmann Northlight factory extensions have been hacked about to fit and have had doors added.
I was never happy with either of the extreme ends of the railway embankment section that forms part of the backdrop, it just didn't look right dissapearing into the sky backscene. The left hand end has now been hidden from most normal veiwing positions by a Skytrex resin northlight 3 floor factory section made into a part low relief building, a similar building will do the same at the other end when some bits arrive.
Anyway a few pics
Bradley Hardarcre's Grimly Mills buildings dominate this view, the first of the pitched roofs to the main buildings is in position though nowhere near finished yet. The actual mill building is now 'planted' and the footpath plaster smoothed upto the building, paintwork needs re touching here, then the footpaths need scribing, most of the plaster work is nearly done like this and a couple of new scribers ordered ready for this.
The roof is from plasticard with paper 'slates'. I haven't decided as to what the Mill manufactures yet, I may just have to watch 'Brass' again for a few pointers.
The Skytrex Northlight factory cut down to 2 bays hides the end of the railway emankment, whilst a grimy (there's a suprise) Robinson ) 04 plods past in the background. A Middleton Bogie waits for shift change at Hardacre's.
Overall view of Grimly Mills, on the extreme right is one of the Bachmann Northlight building, this one is being altered to have an end door and will be repainted and weathered before being planted, the other one is behind the right hand main building (which still needs it's new roof but doing those slates is seriously mind numbing, so it'll have to wait till the nexty time the Mrs has the X-Farce on!)
Another shot, hopefully this gives an idea to what I was looking for, the tram is somewhat dwarfed by it's surroundings, I was looking for the buildings to be the imposing part with the trams 'just there'
