Midhurst Show and Anniversary Plans

As mentioned on the Midhurst Exhibition thread, the club made its annual visit to our local show...this time providing 6 of the layouts. This was intended to give an idea of the wide range of interests within the club, although this year the layouts were all individual member's models, as opposed to club offerings.

First up was Erhwald, an N gauge DCC layout built by the club's chairman, Ben. Designed specifically to fit in the back of his estate car, it demonstrates some fine scenic modelling as well as some pretty nifty DCC gizmos...

Next is Gatcombe. This layout is an extension of a former club layout, put into storage about 20-odd years ago. It has had some refreshment, as well as a conversion from a terminus to a small roundy-roundy. Almost all of the structures on this layout are scratch built.

My offering is Kanjiyama, a layout well documented on this forum.

Likewise is our new secretary's layout, the Lumpy Barmcake and Salted Cracker Railway. Matt has taken over from Yours Truly as club secretary...anyone interesting in finding out more information about the club, he's your man!

South River Terminal is a small shunting layout set in Present Day West Virginia. It is still a work in progress, but already looks a nice little model...

Finally for the 6 layouts is our club treasurer's project. A 1950s H0 layout set in Milwaukee called Warehouse Yard. Still plenty to do on this, as can be seen, but hopefully some real progress can be made over the next few months before its showing at Four Marks in May.

2013 marks some preparation and organisation for our 50th anniversay next year. We have a number of projects on the go, and plans are being made to celebrate this. A new layout is in the planning stage - an N gauge model set in 1890s West Sussex - which should have a start made to it this year. Plenty more will appear on this blog over our plans throughout the year.

Exhibitions will mainly be with Yamanouchi Oshika - Horsham in April and Wycrail in November - before the layout is withdrawn from the circuit. Not sure about disposal as yet, however if anyone is interested (once it has fulfilled its commitments), then please let me know.
