Freight engines!

Bit busy with loft conversions at the moment (stock all stored away) but I thought some freight engine shots may be of interest

First off a 4F from 8E (Brunswick) 44494 - Wills kit - this one was bought on ebay , renumbered, smoke box door plate courtesy of Mike Edge

and another 8E loco - 44489 - Wills kit bought in Barrow as a semi completed 3 rail loco and tender. New chassis with a D11 motor and new Gibson driving wheels. Again smoke box door plate courtesy of Mike Edge so that Herculaneum Dock has all 3 of its Brunswick 4Fs available

Both are spray painted - Halfords Grey Primer followed by Halfords semi- matt Black.

My main interest is in the LM but my time growing up in County Durham in a pit village still draws me to the BR(NE) locos.....so first up- a Nucast J27 - 65872

this is one of the later kits with a brass chassis, DS10 motor and Romford drivers - and I need to get it back into the works to fix the brake gear, a quick strip, repaint and weathering.. but it was a 5F and I remember these in teh late days of steam when West Hartlepool Shed washed them if it rained!

And finally a J21, again a Nucast kit - this one bought from the Nu-Sto shop in Hartlepool from Bill Stott the originator of Nu-Cast kits. Built by my late father again a DS10 with Romford wheels and again ready for a repaint and weathering.. Split pickup - loco one side, tender the other with a perspex draw bar.

Hope these are of interest!

Looks like I need to touch up/repaint and re-weather the ex NE locos. Checked the chimney on the J21 and it isn't the angle the picture shows - not sure what is going on there!

Looking at the photo of 44489 I will have to adjust the Comet tender chassis as its "tail" down.....

and where have the fall plates gone?
