The Vintage Train Weekend between May 4 and 6 saw the Midland Railway's 3F 0-6-0T 'Jinty' appear in its new Somerset and Dorset Railway livery of Prussian Blue.

This was made possible with assistance from Bachmann Europe Plc. The Bachmann SDJR Jinty model (32-233) is as the real thing shown below.

One of the problems with model railways is the compulsion to keep to a particular era or region.

Some of the alternative schemes can be most attractive, as above.

I suppose the only answer is to have that magical preserved railway, where nothing is prohibited, even Thomas.

it's a good job that the coaches have come with no logos on. I think I'm going to turn two of the coaches into a fictitious S D J R livery.

My wife came home with this for this morning.

It's not bad at all.

I removed the plinth and put it on may layout for fun.

The running gears is no good but I have seen on other pages on this site that some people have been changing them for Bachmann and Hornby

Steve 1 has posted this.

Have a look at these comparison pics between the partwork wagon and a Bachmann (ex-Mainline) 3 plank. The wagon seems to be identical to the plain grey finished drop side which was one of the subscribers free gifts. Note the corner chains particularly.

I'm glad people are still getting the issues. Mine stopped after issue 12, when Hatchettes IT department for some unknown reason closed my account back in Feb(no notification). I was getting 2 issues every 4 weeks, so was due 13 & 14 on the 8th March with 15 & 16 due 5th April. They are a nightmare to get to respond. Used email as not prepared to call an 0870 number, each time they took 10 days to reply!! My account has now been reinstated, but told issues 13/14 are now out of stock awaiting new supply.

I agree the Jinty is over priced and is it just me but when you try the MK1 coach on their curved track it derails(think either the bogie hasn't got enough travel or the track radius is too tight for the coach?)

I have had no problems, but it has been said that if you remove the spring from the coupling assembly, this helps.
