Plastered!

blog-0955533001382488199.jpgStarted to use a bit of logic at last and rather than working on the middle have moved to the end. So, removed the middle scenic board and attached the right hand fiddle yard and started to work outwards. Here I have a major problem compared to your average GWR branch line layout as there is a significant lack of tunnels, over bridges or even big buildings to hide the fiddle yard. My solution (allied to as much of a rise as I can justify is a defense in depth - I really have been reading too many books! What this means is that I have extended the scenery fourteen inches onto the fiddle yard board so once the fascia is in place it would take a really determined effort to see the end of the world. Down side of this is that I have to make another dug out and have introduced a communication trench which will all have to be detailed even though nobody is meant to see them.

So here we are with foam board formers and card fillers in place;

Shortly after this I hit a problem in that my thirty year old modroc ran out. Trip to Hobbycraft sorted problem but left me severely out of pocket but with lots to play with (more another day). I have to admit that the new plaster bandage was a lot easier to use so my hot tip for the day is 'don't leave it so long to make a layout!'

Close up of the trench from the hidden end so you may never see this again! Actual depth and width will be reduced as have to revette the sides with sandbags and or corrugated iron and add duck boards to the floor - both of which will be pretty much invisible but I know they will be there!

A quick aside on sand bags - suddenly had a brain wave today so as soon as I have the house to myself tomorrow it will be out with the pasta machine and the tagliatelle setting!

And here it all is covered in brownish, PVAish, plasterish gunge which will be ready tomorrow for more PVA and a coating of soil from the garden!
