Pictures as promised

I promised to take some pics of the stuff I entered in our competition at Manchester MRS.

First is a solo pic.’ (taken for my stock records in case of theft!) of the Airfix crane that I talked about some months ago. In real life it looks rather more careworn than in this picture. I’ve decided to cheat reality a little and I now have “Gorton Shed’s track maintenance train” to run up the Hayfield Branch, (see Pic. 2).

This train is shown here still on its display unit for the show.

The next four photos attempt to show the “ cut from Redbank Empties” parcel train arriving at ‘Bowton’s Yard’. The K3 is assumed to have travelled from Gorton up to Dewsnap Sidings (near GCR Carriage works) to collect a cut of loaded parcels for delivery to Redbank and return to Bowton’s Yard with this cut of empties. It’s all in the mind you know!

Hi Dave,

Yes, the freedom to stretch reality is one of the great facets of railway modelling. I must say, Bowton's Yard has come on a long way, scenically, since I last saw it. The background Globe Cottons mill looks particularly effective.

Keep up the good work.

Hope the Manchester show goes all right for you.

Dave.

Thanks for those comments gents; thanks too to those who ticked " Like" &  "Craftsmanship/clever".

Globe Cotton mill is actually a scale model of Globe Worsted Mill at Slaithwaite and those of you who ever visited ExpoEM North when it was held in that village have seen the original. Modeller's licence has the model in red brick rather than the York stone of the real building. 'Bowton's Yard' is supposed to be on the Lancashire/ Cheshire border close to Dukinfield and Stalybridge and the cotton mills in that part of the world were pretty well all in brick rather than stone but I have for many years considered Globe Worsted to be a lovely building.

good modelling to you,

Dave
