Houses and DCC

KH1

blog-0014181001385686282.jpgNo I haven't worked out a way of wiring up my new house to DCC but have made significant moves in the DCC direction. I am going to talk about DCC partly because there has only been a little bit of progress with the house which is largely due to being sent a very good link (thank you Emma!), with loads of WW1 pics which evaporated a couple of hours. Anyway, six brand new Cobalt DCC point motors arrived this morning to go with the Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance I picked up second hand earlier in the week. I have decided to control the points from the handset and do away with a conventional control panel (although I do still want an LED route plan). The DCC ready motors seemed far more cost effective and convenient than retro fitting the existing ones so I will soon have six hardly used Cobalts available if anyone is interested!

On the building front I have decided to keep the bricks as have worked very well and have been playing with various washes with some success although it is far from finished. One big limitation I have found with the acrylics though is that they just don't seem very good for dry brushing - perhaps it is because they are so fast drying. So back to enamels or even oil colours for this bit.

Have also done a little bit of plastering and wall papering on the end wall - what do you think?

I've been following these blogs with interest  and am really impressed with the look of the weathered timber floors.  The delapidated look is coming along brilliantly

Hmmm superb work but you also need to introduce some deep 10" skirting boards on the papered wall perhaps?

Worry not - all in hand! Have just been trying to mill an ogee profile into bits of basswood with a burr with little success at the moment but this is probably going a bit far!
