More House

blog-0986790001385862401.jpgProgress has been a bit slow. Big reason was my 8 year old had her first sleep over last night which gave my wife and I our first free time in well -8 years! My poor wife does put up with a lot but but spending this night modeling would have been a step too far! Roll on tonight and as predicted we have an over tired 8 year old who is making for an uncomfortable evening!

Anyway managed some more plastering and wall papering;

And a bit more on the outside but still not completely happy with the results. Have just sprayed the end with matt varnish as an experiment in the hope that it will take the paint a bit better - we shall see.

Am currently working on the roof but I fear I will not get it finished tonight which is a shame as I was looking forward to destroying it all tomorrow! unfortunately I have to meet some clients in the morning (oh the joys of being self employed!), so really should give up now.

Nice skirting boards. Next perhaps some distressed soffits and fascia boards, with a few old bits of iron gutting hanging on maybe? Nice job, almost ready for the estate agents to do a valuation.

All the best,

Kevin

Spending quality time with your wife has more value than a few models (especially the first time in eight years) - but keep these models coming!

"Charming country cottage. Would benefit from some renovation"

I notice from the post time that you have been burning the midnight oil, KH1, but it's looking good.  Pity you will be blowing it up next!

Yes, I am afraid I am a terrible night owl and I did want to make sure that the roof had plenty of time to dry.

Now, gutters and soffits..... Here is a bit of a problem. There are no traces of either in the picture I am using - or doors and only a bit of window frame. The doors would have been used elsewhere or burned as firewood but were there ever any gutters? I have to keep in mind that this is probably a pretty basic building which could easily have been a hundred years old a hundred years ago so how many of these modern niceties would it have had? Will it just look odd to the modern eye if I don't put such things on?

Good point, I missed the entry where this fine building is to be based upon. Even my era of late 1960s had plenty of "slums" still inhabited.

I agree with that.
