Aye Aye Skipper!

blog-0400007001394668749.jpgAt last - there is and end to the increasingly dreadful puns! The skips are finished and are just waiting for me to put the layout back together so they can have a little run. Quite remarkably, I even went as far as making some removable loads for them. I give you due warning -this is probably the most boring picture I have ever taken;

Yes, it is a piece of balsa with a small wood screw in it which you can't even see as I painted it black. Next (pretty boring), picture may show why;

Here we have a skip with a piece of clingfilm, the balsa inside and topped off with a load of rubble and plenty of PVA. Next step was to leave them on the radiator for three days! After two days I was brave enough to turn them out and put them back on the rad as they were still pretty soggy on the bottom. The idea of the wood screw is so they can be lifted out with a magnet. Well it works on a couple of them - I think the balsa has expanded so most of them are too tight a fit. Guess it will be pretty easy to shave a bit off but am leaving that for another day.

Have now resolved to stop messing about with little things and get the layout itself into a presentable (and working!), state which I shall report on soon. Oh, by the way - it was just the end of skip puns - am sure there are plenty more on other topics!
