After much deliberation I decided that my spectacular cock up on the control panel was due to a)messing about with it so much and b)not having the layout all together when I was working on it. So, to avoid any more problems I have cleared some junk and set it all up. This is principally so I can get the lengths of the cables between the panels correct but also so I can run some trains - well sort of! The good news is that the control panels do work but the trains don't! I have so much work to do to get things running smoothly and six months to do it. Sounds doable but I know that time evaporates over the Summer and I hadn't bargained on wiring the panels taking a month!

Other reason for putting up the layout was to try out the new trestles. Am afraid I gave up on my 2x1 attempts and found a good deal on Ebay for these adjustable trestles. Apart from taking me ages to assemble them. they are doing a good job. I actually got the idea for these from a layout at the Stafford show. Now, this layout also had a neat solution for leveling the boards with adjustable feet between the layout and the trestle. I thought I had taken a pic but can't find it now. Has anyone any ideas of how to do this?

Am off to Statfold tomorrow for some full sized steam (well full sized for me!), so better get to bed as an early start is called for and is far from early now!
