Biggest Train Set Ever!
I have spent (a rather exhausting day), at the biggest train set I have ever seen! Well that is what it seemed like. My first visit to the Statfold barn Railway seems to have left quite an impression on me. I don't think I can really describe it adequately at this time of night so do look it up but basically it is a collection of immaculately restored narrow gauge locos (with some real gems waiting to be restored), running very intensively on a fiendishly clever track layout. Why clever? It is two foot and two foot three (as well as some standard gauge), so a huge variety of locos can be run together. The track layout would also do any model railway proud allowing five or six separate trains to run at one time with even three running alongside each other at times! If there is enough interest I might expand on this later but for now here are some pics;
But for me the real gems are here;
A Baldwin which is very appropriate for my layout and a Kerr Stuart which I first met an unbelievable thirty years ago a Gloddfa Ganol - it was rusty then but a real mess now! I can't say exactly when, but one of these will be making an appearance on my tracks.
And just so as not to completely alienate those of a more standard inclination here are a couple of pics from the railway at the bottom of my garden!
