Still wiring

blog-0037141001396554950.jpgStill bogged down with the wiring - am I glad I didn't leave this job to the last moment! I could actually have done this as all the points can be controlled via the DCC handset, this approach is just a bit easier I think and more fun! But having still not finished a whole month later is a bit much. I cannot believe how long it has taken, and how much wire! Again I am my own worst enemy as I have made things double difficult by wanting two identical and interconnected panels at each end, one of which is removable. I have now made up the removable panel box out of ply and have made it so that it will fit either right on the very end of the traverser fiddle yard or on the side of the first scenic board for a bit more flexibility. All the interconnecting leads are now made up and am trying to work out how to label them to avoid the inevitable confusion later.

Here is a pic of me testing out the dual panel concept and luckily finding that it worked! Electrics are not my strong point and have found plenty of test leads to be invaluable for trialing the system before committing myself with the soldering iron.

Since then I have finished wiring up the panel and now have the whole layout set up test it all out, and guess what? It didn't work! It was too much to hope for really. Have already spotted one socket I have wired the wrong way round so that isn't going to help. Just have to get logical (and boring), now and just set up one section at a time until all the bugs are (solder) ironed out.

Talking of bugs, just as yet another distraction a Black Beetle motor bogie has now arrived from Australia so can make a start on one of the Wrightlines armored Simplex kits. NO - MUST NOT! Must finish this ####### wiring!
