Back in control
After a whole month, far too much wire and far, far too much money I have pretty much finished the control panel marathon. After tracking down a couple of dry joints all the lights work and whats more all the points move obligingly at the push of a button. Little Iz and I spent about an hour this evening just pushing buttons - not running trains - just pushing buttons! So here is the removable panel first which just attaches with dowels either on the side of the first scenic board or at the very end of the fiddle yard.
And here is the fixed panel;
I am just testing out a short circuit protector which seems to work beautifully even down to being able to run two status LED's which will mean even more wiring. I shall take some pics of the complete undersides soon so that the true extent of the spaghetti (and why it took a month!), can be fully appreciated. With this done I can move onto my next infrastructure task which is to work out a means of leveling each baseboard and the locking them together a bit more firmly. Then it will be transport boxes, fascia and then back scene before I can get back to some scenics and building more stock - OK, I have been a little bit naughty and have made a small start on an open Simplex.
