Lights but little action!

blog-0200692001407170262.jpgI just know you have all been missing me but I am still here and unfortunately progressing at a pace that a snail would be proud of, which is very bad with that doomsday exhibition clock ticking. After a short but adventurous holiday and having to tackle misbehaving, cars, cats, cameras, children and even bats, I finally have something to report. The LED lighting is finally in place as is the fascia with the aid of much velcro. The white balance of the camera doesn't really do the lighting justice and I am afraid my patience to do anything about it has run out.

Have tried to get a bit clever and have introduced a colour coding system for the various supports and fascia pieces.

Hopefully I will get a chance tonight to finish off the last piece of grass and deploy my fiendishly clever system for supporting the front of the fascia. Unfortunately I need the studio to make a bit of money so it will all have to be packed away again for a couple of weeks. I shall use this time to finish off a few more wagons and try to get some locos working properly because at the moment it looks like I will be pushing a few trucks around with my fingers and making chuffing noises myself!

Forgot to say that I also need to work on stretching the back drop a bit better. I actually doesn't look too bad in reality but the pictures have picked up the creases really badly.

Having just left a comment on Stringfingerling's blog about chimney pots I should just point out that I have just added a couple to the cafe. Before anyone questions if they would still have been there I do have a photo of a similar building with them still there!

As always, thanks for the comments, they really do lift you, especially you are losing sight of the fact this is meant to be a hobby!

Hi.

Its comming together well. What colour are the LEDs? Are they the blue/white ones or warm white? I am still a little sceptical about lighting a layout with LEDs and the colour of them is very 'precise'. The thing is though they are so practical to use.

Having followed this development from the beginning, it's great to see everything brought together!  How about some flickering orange lighting on the background to simulate distant battle?

Now, just the little matter of seeing everything working :)

The LEDs are warm white. I may add an extra row of cool white to vary things if necessary. They are, indeed, very easy to use and pretty cheap really. The other thing to try might be the colour changing RGB versions. I think it was Job who wrote a blog on these recently.

As to flickering lights on the horizon this is something I have in mind (like sound as well), but with everything else going on at the moment I fear it might not make it for the debut in September.
