Yet another bl**dy picture of the C2X

Funny how the last few details seem to take forever ... or is it just me?

Cab interior painted, crew added, cab windows glazed, vacuum pipe added and a lamp fitted - buffer beam number on. What's left? Wheel balance weights, but they weren't in the kit so will need to be made out of thin plastikard or something, which I envisage being a bit of a fiddle. And the tender could do with more coal so that it's visible from the side...

As with the S15, the one detail that's eluding me is cabside works/number plates, neither of which came with the kit, but they are necessary for Southern condition. Someone must do etched works plates, even if they're not exactly right for these locos?

I got some rather nice etched SR number plates from Narrow Planet: http://narrowplanet.co.uk/products NPP-408 is the one you're after.

The C2X class were also dual braked, so don't forget the air brake pipes on the buffer beam.

At this point I'm beginning to wonder if the next 'detail' will be a third rail !!!  (does quite pretty tho' Al - for a Southern engine)

You know what, Stationmaster, I've been quietly mulling the possibilities of removable third rail!

The substructure under the track is just extruded foam, so a length of rail with some pins soldered to it ought to be able to be pushed down into place and hold its curve, and yet not leave much trace of itself after removal...

It wouldn't approach the realism of properly modelled third rail, but it might be better than nothing?
