BR Crimson - what paint colour to use?

Hi,

I built a Bristol Models Jubilee many years ago for a friend - fortunately with a Comet chassis! - and he would now like me to paint it in the colour he remembers - BR Crimson - can anyone suggest a suitable paint to use - preferably either Humbrol (from the local model shop) or a car paint (from Halfords) as it's impossible to get paint through the post these days!

BR Crimson Jubilee?  I have never heard of a Jubilee in BR Crimson, a few Pacifics went red in the late 50s early 60s but I think the Jubilees, Scots etc were all green.   One or two stayed LMS red after WW2.

 

Can't you get paint couriered if snail mail won't touch it?

It may be the "customer's" memory, but as he is also red/green colour blind that may not help! -  could it have been (as you alluded) a hang over from LMS red? - how long would these have lasted into the BR period  ('fraid I am completely ignorant of LMS maters being a Southern man!)
