Sproston - We have success!

Finally managed to get the hidden points indications working correctly! - very 'chuffed!!'( coat ,hat,will be going soon....)

As suggested by sohamterry of Ely and District MRC, I fitted 620 ohm resistors inline with each of the leds, using choc - blocks each end to secure, and mounting all the "gubbins" inside the control panel ( just a bit of a squeeze...However it all works, we have three green leds for points normal, and three red for points reverse!!!        Just a bit of cosmetic tidying up of the wiring left to do under the board (zip-ties).

Also checked that the optical detector was functioning o.k, as the two things go hand - in - hand, enabling the layout to be operated by one person. (me).

Glad thats all over, think I've had enough of burning myself with the soldering iron and repeatedly trying to get wires into difficult places for the time being - might go and paint some little people, or the inside of a couple of carriages now for a change!
