The 2016/2017 budget.

It has been a little while since my last blog post, things have been busy and hectic! Went to London/Kent for 10 days, transferred depots within the bus company that I work for, also I turned 26! So not much time was spent on the actual hobby of railway modelling recently other than taking apart Leahurst Road for it's rebuild project, which I have to come to regret starting. :scratchhead:

My birthday just passed and I got some lovely presents, some more model buses (brings the total up to 34!) and a pain-in-the-bum-to-get Bachmann 159 in NSE livery! So I'm very happy :) The day after, me and my fiancee were discussing finances (not a good topic) and it turns out, we tend to waste money on impulse buying things that we want but not actually need. Also an unexpected bill reared its ugly head and that means we have to tighten our belts and be careful on what we spend. Railway modelling, as we all know, is not a cheap hobby at the best of times. The price of new models is steadily rising, and to be fair, so is the quality but it is getting less and less affordable for those on a budget. My job pays quite well but the household bills are quite high and that leaves not that much to play around with. The forthcoming house move sometime next year will also not be on the cheap side either.

Basically, the budget for railway modelling will be next to zero for a good while. No new trains except the Capital Commuter train pack and whatever I may get for Christmas. Fortunately I have a ton of railway modelling stuff that I can build a layout with no extra expense but Leahurst Road will have to go to basics if the rebuild is to continue.

Being an adult is not as fun as they made it out to be....
