They really are some of the most elegant designs of engines, and a Duke is very soon to follow too, but that is for me so will have to wait for now!

I can 'feel' the weight of it from the photos   As a 4mm modeller, I find it fascinating to see how much more 'massive' all the components look at the larger scale.  Looking forward to seeing your Duke.

I agree with bgman that these locomotives represent a final flowering of 19th century elegance, before Churchward introduced the angular practicality of the 20th.
