More trees!

One of the drawbacks of modelling a rural location is the number of trees needed to make a convincing landscape! There's only so much fun to be had twisting lengths of wire together and I find stippling an Artex/PVA mix onto wire armatures soon loses its magic:-) Despite all this I've managed to summon the enthusiasm to make a few more trees for Sherton Abbas! I used the same techniques as discussed in a previous blog entry http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/1131/entry-17699-trees/ so there's little point repeating the process again. The right hand end of the layout has a fair number of trees that I've used to mask the exit of the private siding. In contrast the centre and left hand end of the layout were distinctly lacking in anything arboreal.

Following the maxim that "pictures are better than a thousand words", here are some photos of the layout before and after the new trees were added.

I've just noticed the wine glass lurking under the bridge in the 2nd to last picture, goodness knows what the passengers waiting for the first train of the day will think!

I really must ensure that my next blog entry has a least one picture containing a train! ;)

Best wishes

You've got one hell of a quality layout Dave. You can never have too many trees either.

The trees are brilliant and certainly help to bring the layout alive.

The only problem I could see with the wine glass was the lack of wine in it.

Thanks Robin!:-) You're quite right about never having too many trees, I just need to motivate myself to make the next batch!:-)

Love it, as always beautifully executed and observed. I would love to see this layout in the flesh one day. When are you coming to Kent??!!

Beautiful modelling and an excellent set of photos.  Well worth raising a glass :)
Thanks Mike! The pics are just using an iPad, but I'm still quite pleased with the image quality :-) The glass now contains a rather good Aussie Shiraz!:-)

Thanks Tricky!:-) Kent's a long way from Wales, but I was very fond of holidays in Broadstairs as a small boy, so never say never!:-) Best wishesDave

I didn't think there was much room for improvement. I was wrong. Great work Dave

Thanks Don!  It's getting close to being finished, but I've got a few little additions planned :-)

Absolutely stunning modelling and so inspiring. I'm just starting out on a small layout based in Edwardian times-what a great period to model!

Glad you found it inspiring Steve, looking forward to seeing your progress, there's nothing quite as nice as an Edwardian layout!:-)

I rarely seem to get round to look at people's blogs.  So glad I came here this evening though - lovely modelling.

Steve (not a tall one though; about average height)
