My best identification is a female sparrowhawk, apparently they specialise in hunting pigeons and are well known to hunt in gardens... 2

88D 785 Posted September 17, 2018 I’ve seen a male sparrowhawk(smaller) down a pigeon in our garden, but not have the strength to stop the pigeon from escaping. Perhaps he was a learner!y Link to comment
