Still more Easy Street.
Ok, that's going to be the last easy street pun for a while, it's grating even on me! Much more scribing and sore fingers later, I've done all the sets in between the tracks and the crossover looks like this now
I've had a Halling power truck running quite happily on it, overall very happy with it. Rest of road surface is underway, I haven't made my mind up yet if it will be srcibed as setts as it was tarmaced over in various pictures of the area that I'm going to base the model on.
Which leads me nicely to here, after much searching I've found a few pictures on the Tramway museum society website of Elland Rd in the early 50s, but my favourite shot is this pre war one
So the basic idea for the extension is to model what was known as the 'scratching shed' , this being a low covered stand with a barrell roof in corrugated iron, with a brick rear wall as in the picture, with the ends of the two larger (main and lowfields rd?) rising above, the road and the trams will be down the centre of the baseboard with some terraced properties on the front of the board, these will be very much freelanced but based on pictures of the prototype, which looked to include quite a bit of wasteground etc. The idea being that the trams will lbe viewed passing through the buildings rather than just being the centre of attention.
It should connect up to the outer circuit of 'Grime Street' (which is just 2 concentric ovals) on the left hand side allowing it to become a point to point operation as well as a circuit, cars will work in then reverse on the crossover, then back to the hidden sidings on 'Grime St'
Thanks for all the positive comments, appreciate them.
