In case of a sudden attack of Diorama, take one scrap piece of MDF, 18inches by 10 inches and then spend an evening scouring fotopic for inspiration. Once inspired you can press on with step two.

Scrawl a rough plan onto your scrap MDF

Add some track...

...and instantly become dissatisfied with the look of it so add another piece with adjusted sleeper spacing.
