Hardstanding Take 2

A bit out of sequence this, back in lockdown #1 I realised that the cardboard Scalescenes hardstanding/inset track was just not going to work in the long term. It was uneven and was already starting to get damaged by track cleaning etc. So there was nothing else to do but rip it up and get the DAS clay out. Chris Nevard eat your heart out LOL

Top surface cut back, I kept most of the surrounding card as it was just the running surfaces that I needed to replace.

DAS mostly applied

First go with some grey emulsion. Still got a way to go to finish this to my satisfaction and those wagon turntables will take some cleaning!

That looks nice and smooth. Can I ask, how did you get it even up against the rails?

Lots of patience and the use of fingers, an old butter knife and strips of 1mm plasticard. I'm sure I'll have a bit of fun cleaning out the rail edges to get good running!

Many thanks. I like the idea of the butter knife.  Just need to avoid the crumbs getting stuck in the DAS :D
