As every the balancing act of how you spend your time between the competing demands continues, hence a large gap between blog entries.

So a new project, and revisiting something I played about with ten years. A couple of months before Christmas, i picked up a ViTrains Class 37/4, 37428 in BR Large Logo Blue, which had a few faults. Over the past year or two I’ve come to like the ViTrains Class 37, which with some application of model skills can be made into a tidy looking realistic models. I also fancied a BR Large Logo Blue 37/4, after seeing these used on the local RHTT trains up to Scarborough, not that I model the present day scene.

Anyway, initially the project started with tidying the paintwork on one side. This expanded to repainting the warning panel yellow with Railmatch Acrylic 2202 Warning Panel Yellow 84-03.

I then decided go the next step and tackle the windscreen issue. Years ago I bought some Craftsman Models Class 37 / 40 brass windscreen etches, to do this job.

Moulded windscreen frame removed. Originally tried to leave part of the frame to support. This would make fitting glazing a nightmare.

The etch bonded in place with Superglue. Etch primer was used to paint the windscreen etch. The etch was folded to achieve the thruppenny bit shape of the windscreen.

Just needs some fillering using Deluxe Materials Perfect Plastic Putty.

There is more photos but they need the size reducing in file size, which is more job for a desktop rather than a smartphone.

Coming together nicely...

I'd agree with your sentiments on the Vitrains Class 37 and a sad loss they are no longer made.

Look forwards to further updates.

Cheers,
