September 2023 - Blog or Forum Topic for a Workbench?

This is short post. I’ve noted Blogs are not as popular as a forum topic for a workbench.

What is everyone else think?

Not necessarily as popular, but more difficult to find

A thread seems to attract more views and therefore comments.

With very few exceptions, Blogs do not attract much in the way of comment.

It has been discussed here

On page 2 I explain why I prefer a blog. Of course it is entirely personal preference, but once a blog develops the structure seems to suit my way of recording and discussing my modelmaking activities.

I do seem to get a few views and  the comments and subsequent discussions are interesting. From my point of view having those discussions attached to a particular blog is useful, I can find references easily.

As to the number of views I'm not too bothered, like minded modellers pop by when they can.

Interesting thread about blogs.

i guess I blog needs to be thought about and written almost like a non fiction book, which I what I’ve tried to do to make the topics clear and the content accessible. Maybe it’s just through education I prefer structure content.

I guess a thread is just “easy” by adding a post and then letting it flow (usually off topic!).

Not sure which way to go with this. Continue with the Blog or start a thread.

There is also the issue of then transferring the context and whether it’s worth the effort!

Some people do both - e.g. Mikkel's Farthing blog and his Workbench thread

I chose a blog because it forms a diary that I find useful as a personal record as well as, hopefully, being of interest to some others.  Threads do tend to wander around 'off topic' and, while more entertaining for many people are, possibly, less useful to the original 'owner'.

I agree with you. I like having a record of what I’ve been up to. Plus it’s a bit more structured.

I might go with posting stuff to both.
