Further drawings from the note book...

I'm going to start a 'Meadow Lane' blog and forum topic now things have progressed but until I can put a thorough post together I thought I may as well share my latest doodlings...

First of all a more detailed track plan - nice and simple! Off to the left will be two cassettes and off to the right will be a sector plate linking the front and back lines together.

And after my last post which faced the shed here are some more views of the other end, facing towards the crossing. The building is based upon the control hut at Ellesmere Port (see my prototype photos in a previous post), and the end of the compound has some big boulders placed along it, again based on the prototype. The road will be tarmac but in poor condition with a low curb and some small details like ironwork. Signage is again based on the prototype and right at the front you can see the 'Meadow Lane' road name :)

That's all for now - keep your eyes peeled for a new blog and remember to 'Track this blog' when it does!

I like James, I like. ;)

It's simple, it's achievable, it's industrial. :D I do like the concept drawings. Wish I had the artistic skill to try one for "The Estate".

Apologise if you've already covered this, but what are the general dimensions you have in mind?

Thanks Sam. Probably something similar to the S4 Society armchair modellers challenge - though perhaps a touch longer and a shade narrower (so around 600mm long, 400mm deep - but more like 650mm x 300mm).

Intresting, as the last one was. Somehow, the closed door of the last one made me want to know what is in there.

Im assuming that some sort of delivery would be made to the shed by road: would lorries have the turning space? Or room to back up to reverse in?

I ask as I have driven HGV's and some allowance always seems to be made. Rigid wheelbase trucks are no joke to manoeuvre, (sp), trust me.

That's an excellent thought :)

I hadn't thought about the shed needing deliveries as I had in mind it was really a loco workshop/stores - so envisioned transits and the like but you're right, with the current 'straight over' crossing it's a hard left round the fence! Perhaps I could widen it slightly and also model a couple of bent bollards where the truck has scraped/bent/knocked over due to the poor design by the architect! :)

Unless my tape measure's decided to play some trick on me, that's an impressively small layout.
