Dave Holt 1,123 Posted March 4, 2010 Robin, The trackwork looks very nice indeed - a smooth flowing curve and pointwork. Actually, I drove a Stanier Black 5 along that stretch last night - on MS Train Sim on a newly released Bristol - Birmingham route. The shed was there, but no locos!! (Need some "activities" created to do solve that.) I was rather surprised to find the shed on the left of the running lines as I headed north. I presume that is correct? Best wishes with the layout. Cheers, Dave. Link to comment

Did you collect a banker for this ascent? - usually a 4F or Ivatt tank. Cheers, Robin PS There are some photos posted by Danny Cockling on the S4 website in the Area Group section. Link to comment

Dave Holt 1,123 Posted March 5, 2010 ...or a Jinty Martin Well, no, actually. One of the features of train sim is that the locos appear far more powerfull than in real life, or maybe the stock has less rolong resistance. Anyway, with 7 ex-LMS coaches on, the 5 waltzed up to Fishponds with no trouble. Struggled up Lickey, though. Again no banker, but full regulator and nearly full gear with sanders on! Mmm, better get back to the modelling. To facilitate bankers, I assume Barrow Road will be DCC? Dave. Link to comment

Indeed it will - of course this will mean removable AJ's of my locos as I don't want them coupling up whilst operating in the shed yard, however if I get round to a suitable fiddle yard for a 10/11 coach train on the main line they will be needed!! Until c1960 my grandparents lived in Chelsea Park & so their house backed onto the line. I distinctly remember 47333 banking there. Regards Martin Link to comment

Regards Martin Martin I think Dave is referring to my question about using a banker on his computer SIM of driving a Black 5 up Fishponds bank rather than whether Jinties were used - which of course they were.
