A Few More Snaps

Friday night's session was the last before Christmas, and an attempt to get some areas completed. Although we were not 100% successful in this aim, the park area is more or less complete and the hitherto neglected station area saw some activity with the fitting of canopies, some fencing, platform buildings and people.

Kato produce quite a good 'suburban station' accessory pack...which essentially covers structures and items in the area around the road side of a station...newspaper kiosks, public toilets, subway entrances and the like. Although probably too Japanese to be of general use, they nevertheless add some extra interest to a scene.

First up is the park area. This has had a couple of buildings added, as well as a wall and some fencing.

Down at the station below improvements have also been taking place...

A class 115-1000 EMU, in Nagano area livery, stands in the bay platform at Yamanouchi Oshika.

When operating the layout more prototypically, these units would be operating the local services on the main line, and would not terminate here. This platform will be used by the Minobu line trains, mainly formed of red and white liveried units of the same class, and JR Central class 313s.

Up the other end, a few more trees have been added; as well as some more variation in colour to the grass. This is a bit of an ongoing task, and still has a little way to go before completion.

So that is it for 2010 in terms of the club. Next year sees a blitz on the 00 layout for the Midhurst show on the 27th February, so once work has reached a certain point on Yamanouchi Oshika full attention will be switched.

All that is left to say really is to wish all a happy and peaceful Christmas, and a happy new year...:)
