Hythe Parkway - Signs and other stuff!

Hi,

There has been alot of progress on Hythe in the past couple of days (all though it may not seem it from the photos!). We managed to get the station board out of storage in the garage and do some work on Platform 3. We cut through the post platform at the end of P4 to get ready for track laying to connect the extension tomorrow.

Dad also cut back the platform a bit, because it was always was a bit tight. This meant that when I got home from school, he was attacking it with a chisel, something to make my heart skip a beat!

On Sunday, I placed an order with Hattons containing the prefect lorry to put on the extension, a Corgi Mercedes Atros in 'Derek Linch Haulage' livery, with 'Romney Marsh, Kent' displayed on the sides, fantasic!

The order also contained an office building to fill the space now created by altering the plan (see last couple of entries), it's a Bachmann scenecraft office building:

I spent a lot of today making various signs for the extension, including health and safety signs and signs for the buildings sides and a welcome sign, which sites on top of the wall near the entrance.

A addition to the layout, are these stop blocks:

It's based on those at Aylesbury Depot, seen in this picture (the concrete block to the left of the truck), I saw these a couple of time during my work exprience at Chiltern Railways.

What did you make the stop blocks out of? Is it cardboard?

They look like something I might be able to use on my layout instead of having to off and buy them...

Hi,

They are 5mm foamboard cut and shaped as needed, then clad in very thin plastic so you can paint them.

It's painted with Precision paints concrete, then black and yellow of your choice
