The real Ropley (MHR Spring Gala)

Hi all.

Visited the Mid Hants Railway for their GWR themed spring Gala on Friday and had a thoroughly enjoyable day! All credit to the team there for getting Pitchford Hall within a few days notice of King Edward I not being able to make it via the main line at Alton due to pathing issues.

It really is a lovely stretch of line and I'd recommend anyone who's in the area pay it a visit :)

Here's a few photos from the day.

Nice photos Tom. I managed a quick visit to Ropley on Thursday on my way back from a work visit; didn't expect to see much, but forgot it was the gala with everything warming slowly for Friday. Grabbed a few photos... but disapoinited to see only LN and 31806 representing the Southern. I'm not a GW fan really (not sure why exactly) but Ropley to me has always been a Bulleid haven... and Thursday was a little disappointing with a unrebuilt bulleid in the shed (not 007, the other one) and Canadian Pan sticking out of the wheel drop and no sign of Bodmin or Wadebridge anywhere - I thought there'd been a GWR invasion! Grabbed a coupel of shots of the big tank engine, but the bright sunlight was in the wrong direction for much else. Glad you had a good day out - they do put on a good show.
