Ropley - Trackwork progress

Morning all :)

Just a small update but perhaps significantly my first attempt at pointwork using easitrac components but to N scale clearances. This is the point giving access to the main yard area:

A little way to go yet but now waiting for the next shipment of chairs to complete the job. This was something of a learning curve for me but so far it has been no-where near as difficult as I'd feared! Of course the proof will be when it all works but thats for another update :D

Cheers,

Tom :)

Hi Tom -

It's said that the first footstep of any journey is the most difficult! Looking good - and certainly more impressive than the usual 'p..o' product!

Hey Tom,

How are you setting the gauge adjustment - individual chairs around the frog area?

Looks good so far.

Hi Pete.

Yes, pretty much. I made a rudimentary jig for the crossing area which just opens out the frog to N dimensions, then for the guard rails I used individual chairs as opposed to the combined chairs supplied. When these are pushed up to those on the stock rails it gives enough clearance for Standard N stock to run though quite happily.

Cheers,

Tom.

Interesting stuff, will keep an eye on how it goes, I keep imagining a micro layout using modern image N gauge stock and 'hybrid' track. So long as an unmodified litte Kato 4-wheeler can amble through the points!

PS... scary stuff... though you can always borrow my 45110 if yours reverses over that cliff....
