Back to where it all began...............

Red Devil

My occasional long suffering reader will remember that 'Grime Street' started from your usual big headed bloke quote of 'yeah but I can do better', when Mrs Red Devil commented on some Hornby Skaledale buildings on a day out somewhere or other.

Anyway, due to time constraints I decided to use a number of Terraced houses on the front of the extension, however rtp Hornby just doesn't look quite right to me so a few alterations are in hand.

Window frames, doors and sills will be repainted, nearly done all of them now (5), and then windows are being altered to 4 pane design with the adition of a piece of 10 x 40

thou microstrip. On one I've been messing with the weathering rest will be as grimey when done. Other detailing to include kitchen sink outflow pipe (no earth pipe though, they're all having outside lavs in the back yards), net and normal curtains etc. Possibly if time allows interior details, if not blanking so you can't see straight through.

I had the slight problem of how to deal with the triangular piece as the row of terraces runs out, this will be done as fenced wasteland, where one house has been demolished, this meant detailing the end of one of the Skaledale buildings to look part demolished, the pic shows it very much work in progress with chimney section and part demolished walls in situ, loads still to do here, finish flues, put fireplaces/mantles in, plus all the associated rubble left in the undergrowth, plaster and timber remanants etc. A modified Wills hoarding will complete the scene, when looking at picture of street scenes in the 50s it is amazing just how much there was in the way of adverts and poster, fortunately I have quite a few re scaled ads ready to print and use.

Hopefully you'll get the idea of how the street scene here is meant to look, with the terminal stub almost as an incedental, so you have to look beyond the first terrace etc, well that's the idea, we'll see what happens!

On the remains of the chimney stack at the end of the terrace are you going to model the remains of the fireplaces?
