Ropley - Update & 2011 Challenge ponderings

Hi all.

Another small update on Ropley progress sees the second point now complete. This is the point at the Western end of the station loop and is on a very gentle curve which made things a little more interesting than the first one.

Test runs of various stock shows a little tweaking is necessary around one of the switch blades but otherwise everything seems to run quite happily through it!

Wiring has also started with the main DCC bus being installed and the first sections of track connected up. This has allowed the first train to run from one end of the first scenic board to the other, so another milestone now passed!

Anyway, photos!

Changing the subject slightly, if you head back to the start of this blog you will see that the original plan was to model the swing bridge at Somerleyton in Norfolk. This was shelved to make way for the operationally more interesting Ropley however the 2011 challenge and a week boating on the Broads has me thinking.......

I think I can just about fit the swinging span & box in to the dimensions of the challenge. The question now is, can I finish it by October...hmmm

The Broads is one of my favorite places, only been back a few days but already looking at boats for next year!

I usually plan for a night stop at Somerleyton, there is a very nice pub a short stroll from the moorings and of course you have the added railway element to it :D

Nice progress on the track Tom.

Know what you mean about the 2011 challenge...I have an idea that might just get things back on track for me...but then have too many projects...ho hum...

Like the last photo Tom, something very 'Fighting Temeraire' about it.

One of these days I will have to commission you to make me a couple of N/2FS hybrid points. If you could assemble me one glued to a postcard and put a first class stamp on it (that might even work!) I can send you more time expired locos for the Ropley restoration line up!

Excellent work, keep it up ;)
