A1 Models Hunslet - Handrails and Radiator Grill.

Just a quick update on this one. I've added the handrails and bonnet catches using .33mm brass wire and Gibson short handrail knobs. I used the RSU to solder the wire and knobs in place from the inside by cutting off a small piece of solder, placing it where needed then using the RSU to make the join. I've never tried this technique before and it works quite well. A pic,

Note that the bonnet catches are all out of line, this is deliberate (honest!). The cab handrails and door handle still need adding on.

The radiator grill is a piece of Scale Link etch thats been in the bottom of my toolbox for about 15 years. Its not correct for a Hunslet which should have vertical bars but the supplied bar etches are too short and I can't be bothered to make up new ones. My excuse is that the bonnet front has been rebuilt after a front end bash...

The bodywork is almost done apart from the air tanks under the footplate and the cab interior. Both will be fabricated from plastic (the tanks are almost finished).

Really ought to get the thing running...

Thanks James. This one might never be seen in public though... doesn't stand close inspection.

Doesn't look that bad Paul, once the loco is painted and weathered I'm sure it will be fine.

Regards,

Nick.
