Exhibition Preparation

Spurred on by the image shown in the previous post of the signal located at Osterport, the small signal cabin adjacent to the signal was too good an opportunity to miss. With its typical Scandinavian details and (compared with other buildings of the era) unusually large overhangs on the roof and use of concrete, a couple of evenings work with Plasticard and Slaters planked sheets suitably scribed with grain detail; the building is complete.

whilst more shots were being prepared, a 'beep' was heard out in the distance and a MDR125p whizzed by on its way to the workbench...

Clearly as the image above the MDR remains uncompleted as I am really struggling to get suitable details, namely headlamps and wiper blades. I have tried one supplier mentioned in a recent railway publication who sells automotive modelling details and no matter how hard I try to order, they simply do not materialise. So I guess I need to keep looking. There is of course scratchbuilding.

Meanwhile the final detail on the Op are complete, couplings and air pipes finished. This particular example is of the single line air braked system.

Any new modelling tasks will be put on hold for the time being to prepare for the projects next outing. The project is due to appear at the Lydney Model Railway Exhibition w.e. of 24th and 25th September as a demonstration stand. As can be seen in the images above, an experiment was (unsuccessfully) undertaken with some static grass in prep for the exhibition outing...exactly the purpose of the test track.

It is hoped that this will be its last annual outing as a test piece, as a few ideas have been put on paper to get underway with a layout....watch this space
